Drugs
Drugs are very used to have so advantages in combat. The players will be consumed with Inhalers.
In my novel, I design the Water Pipes inspired by the Arab Hookahs and the tobacco smoking pipes. In my novel, these pipes are used for the survivor to consume drugs and “tobacco”, that in my novel is a set of herbs, minerals, dry fruits, and molasses. They can use water, juices, alcohols, infusions and other liquids to fill the pipe. Also, are cold pipes and hot pipes. The hot pipes heat the liquid inside to liberate vapors and make the effect of the drug or the tobacco stronger. Because these pipes are made sometimes whit crystal and they heavy, the survivors created the Water Cigarettes. These are the ones that I choose for the videogame. I based their design on the actual electronic cigarettes. But, because people are… too sensitive these days, I decide to change the name for the videogame and called Inhalers.
There are different types of drugs that the players will be able to make using natural resources. All will be explained in the encyclopedia, inside the players’ Diary. These are some example:
- Green Water. This drug appears in the novel and is used by one of the characters named John Uz. It is used to calm the nightmares produced by the Eris’s Dream spores, with the handicap that the players lose their consciousness momentarily (the screen goes black for a second or two). To do this drug the players will need the next herbs:
- Verxebán (Verbena officinalis)
- Aragaño (Hyoscyamus niger)
- Black Water. This is the most “expensive” drug that the players can do. It will allow the players to enter in the “spirits” world and predict the enemies moves. The animation will show Jacob Lias saying to the players “I will help you”. Will be useful against Symbionts, Bosses or Angela’s Toys. To do this drug the players will need the next herbs:
- Aragaño (Hyoscyamus niger)
- Herba do Demo (Datura stramonium)
- Durmideira (Papaver somniferum)
- Pirixel das Bruxas (Conium maculatum)
- Beladona (Atropa belladonna)
- Yellow Water. This drug will allow the players to recover the energy and sprint faster and longer without getting tired. Also, hold the breath longer. To do this drug the players will need:
- Abeloura (Hypericum perforatum)
- Purple Water: This drug allows the players to do not feel the pain. That means that players will a damage reduction and no SFX in the screen. To do this drug the players will need the next herbs:
- Romeu (Rosmarinus officinalis)
- Hortelá (Mentha spicata)
- Aragaño (Hyoscyamus niger)
Damage
The players will receive damage from different sources. When the players receive damage from the enemies it will appear a red arrow in the screen indicating the precedence of the damage.
Also, the players will hear the character complaining and the “hit” sound of the bullets, explosions, and melee hits. If the players are attacked under the water, it will appear the blood in the water.
These are the sources and the damage indicators:
- From human enemies.
- Damage from firearms. The borders of the screen turn red, the camera will show a violent move showing the “hits” of the bullets. How much damage the players receive, redder the screen will be.
- Damage from the melee. The borders of the screen turn red and blood stains appear randomly. The camera moves with the enemy hits. How much damage the players receive, redder the screen will be.
- From animal enemies. Light red on the borders of the screen, red scratches appear randomly and the camera moves back and forward with the bites and hits of the animals.
- From Changed and Failed Experiment enemies. Bright red on the borders of the screen, a red mark appears with the hits (like the “pow” speech bubbles in the comics) and the camera move with the hits.
- From Symbionts and Toys enemies. Bright red on the borders of the screen, a red mark appears with the hits and red scratches. The camera move with the hits.
- Android enemies.
- Normal hits. Like human enemies.
- Electric damage. Light blue and withe lines in the border of the screen with a red pulse.
- Pollution from the Polluted Zones. (If the players do not use the Gas Mask or if this is broken or damage). Red lines in the corners of the screen with the sound of the character without air.
- For falling. Red borders on the screen.
- From fire. Animation of the character trying put out the fire.
- By being run over. Red borders on the screen. Animation of the character falling to the ground.
- Explosions. Animation of the explosion, the character protect his face using his arms and is thrown in the opposite direction from the explosion. White screen for a second.
- By having an accident in vehicle. Animation of the character being thrown away. Sound of the hit and the character complain.
Healing
The players will be able to craft natural First Aid Kits using herbs and Super Medicine uses spores and fungus collected from the bodies. Both will be explained in the Encyclopedia on the players Diary. The players will be able to choose between both using the Drugs/Healing selection panel. Like in Far Cry 4, for example.
FIRST AID
The players will be able to heal their wounds with First Aid. This will heal a small part of their health. The animation will show, for example, the hand of the character repositioning the hand bones of the other or the arm bones. Like in the Far Cry 3 or Far Cry 4.
NATURAL FIRST-AID KITS
This will allow the players to recover half of their heath. To do it, the players will need the next herbs:
- Dedaleira (Digitalis purpurea)
- Aragaño (Hyoscyamus niger)
SUPER MEDICINE
This will allow the players to recover all their health.
Death
The players can die in different ways. I want to give some dramatics to their death so it is not only a death sequence. For this reason, when the player dies (no matter the way), they will see an animation of a mist surrounded them and they will listen to the voice of Aloia Garat, saying to them: “Is not your time yet” or “Hold on a bit longer”. And other times (randomly) the players will see the eyes of the Congrio Mariposa into the mist and hear his voice saying: “You are no dead yet”.
